Spring Break Means Bike Week in Myrtle Beach

30 Apr

The Mustang Motorcycle Seats tractor-trailer and show crew will be back in North Myrtle Beach for Myrtle Beach Bike Week, May 10-15, 2010 (we’ll be set up in the Barefoot Landing parking lot, between Wild Wing Cafe and River City Cafe). If you’re headed to Myrtle Beach, stop by and say hello, especially if you’re in the market for a new motorcycle seat, because our hard-working mechanics and installation specialists can set you up with one heck of a deal (and we’ll even do you the favor of shipping your old seat home at no additional charge).

As with all the motorcycle rallies we attend throughout the year, we’ll have a great selection of motorcycle seats for almost every Harley, including our new 2010 Touring Tripper Fastback seat, Wide Super Touring Seats, and saddlebag lid covers. We’ll also have a full selection of Metric cruiser seats and accessories including our new line of seats for the Vulcan 1700.

We look forward to seeing you in Myrtle Beach!

New for Tuesday: Wide Tripper with Driver Backrest

27 Apr

With our new Wide Tripper seat, the name pretty much says it all — it’s a substantially wider seat that provides comfort for you — the driver — as well as your passenger.  And that improvement doesn’t come at the expense of style and sleekness, because this seat is one great-looking piece of motorcycle furniture.

The new Mustang Wide Tripper style offers a surprising full 14-inch width for the driver and an 11-inch width for the passenger. That adds up to a new level of comfort and support for both riders, whether you’re heading across town or on a long run. Just by adding two inches, the ride becomes ridiculously comfortable, and when you install the fully adjustable backrest, you remove the strain from long rides.

The backrest, which is optional, offers several height adjustments and can pivot to your back angle to create a custom feel. When you’re just cruising around town, you can simply lift out the driver backrest — no tools required — and the seat is transformed into a classic, low profile style. The wider base provides additional support to the back, which means your entire body benefits from the genius of this moth-old design.

The Wide Tripper with the driver backrest fits the 1997 through 2010 Harley-Davidson FL Touring family of bikes, and sells for only $579 retail. Made right here in the USA and first introduced during the Daytona Bike Week last month, the Wide Tripper with Driver Backrest truly combines comfort for your back and sleek styling.

Headed to Panama City for Thunder Beach

26 Apr

After a great week at the rally in Laughlin, NV, the Mustang Motorcycle Seats tractor-trailer is making the 2,000-mile trip to Panama City Beach, FL, for Thunder Beach. For the uninitiated, Panama City’s Thunder Beach Rally is billed as the “Most Biker Friendly Free Rally” in the US, and is quickly becoming a must-attend event for companies like ours.

Thunder Beach Rally is spread out over several venues with lots of parties, bike shows and beauty pageants, including the Nick Lee World Burnout Tour and the Cody & Kyle Ives Globe of Death. The huge Mustang Motorcycle Seats trailer and tent will be located at Club La Vela on Thomas Dr. in Panama City Beach, where we’ll be from Thursday, April 29 through Sunday, May 2.

As with every rally and show we attend, we’ll have a great selection of Mustang seats onsite for almost every Harley, including our “New for 2010” Touring Tripper Fastback seat, Wide Super Touring Seats, and Saddlebag Lid Covers. We’ll also have a full selection of Metric cruiser seats and accessories including our new line of seats for the Vulcan 1700. Our staff is prepared to answer all your  motorcycle seat questions, get you fitted with the perfect seat for your ride and, to top it all off, we’ll even ship your stock seat back home for free anywhere in the lower 48 states.

Hope to see you in Panama!

The huge Mustang Motorcycle Seats trailer and tent will be located in the front parking lot of the Edgewater Hotel and Casino, right in between Metzeler Tire and Performance Machine. And we’ll be there from Wednesday, April 21 through Saturday, April 24.

As you would expect from us, we’ll have a great selection of Mustang seats onsite for almost every Harley, including our “New for 2010” Touring Tripper Fastback seat, Wide Super Touring Seats and Saddlebag Lid Covers.  We’ll also have a full selection of Metric cruiser seats and accessories including our new line of seats for the Vulcan 1700. How to Clean a Mustang Motorcycle Seat

13 Apr

Mustang motorcycle seats and accessories are made of the highest quality vinyl and will retain their looks for years. Since you will, however, occasionally want to wash off some dust, mud, grease, bugs, pollen or the inevitable bird poop, here are some things to keep in mind:

  • While Mustang motorcycle seats can be washed with any mild, non-abrasive detergent, we strongly recommend Protect All, a do-it-all type of product that cleans, polishes, waxes, treats and protects every surface.
  • Protect All’s water repellent Carnauba Wax Formula provides durable protection against all elements. As their ads say, “simply spray, wipe, and polish dry for a beautiful, durable, lasting shine.” Protect All’s anti-static property is ideal for treating vinyl to a clean, dry natural appearance. It leaves no oily film and, with regular use, Protect All’s highly effective UV absorber additive helps to protect all surfaces by absorbing the UV light rays and blocking them from reaching the finish.
  • Yep, it sounds like a commercial for the stuff but, honestly, we use Protect All on every seat before it leaves the Mustang Motorcycle Seat factory. In fact, if you stop by and visit our display at any of the motorcycle rallies and events we attend, and you will see cans of Protect All in our toolboxes and under our tables.
  • Do NOT use alcohol-based or other “wax” products on your motorcycle seat. Although Protect All does contain some wax, it will not make your seat slippery or ultra shiny.  You don’t want to make your seat slippery–that is just plain dangerous.

Motorcycle Seat Tip of the Day: The best way to treat scratches or scuff marks… gently apply a very small dab of black paste shoe polish on the affected area. Allow it to dry completely, then buff out with a clean soft cloth.

As always, if you have any questions (about cleaning your Mustang motorcycle seat or otherwise), please contact one of our seat experts using the info available on our Contact Page.

Unveiling the New Mustang Seats Website

9 Apr

Today, we are extremely proud to officially introduce our new website. For quite some time now, a team of truly dedicated and highly skilled individuals has been working around the clock on creating and launching a vastly improved MustangSeats.com. The new website (pictured below) incorporates many enhanced features and resources — all of which are intended to help you choose the most comfortable seat or the most useful motorcycle seat-related accessories for your bike.

One of the first things you might notice when you visit the new site is a section labeled “Motorcycle Seats 101” (originally titled “Everything You Ever Wanted to Know about Motorcycle Seats but Were Too Afraid to Ask”). If you ride a bike, you sit on a motorcycle seat, and the way we look it, you may as well know what goes into making one. We have been making motorcycle seats since 1980 (all here in the USA), and have learned a thing or two along the way that not only helps us make the most comfortable seats available on the market today, but can help you choose the right seat for you and your style of riding.

Our new website allows you to search for everything we manufacturer and sell. Simply enter the specific make, year and model of your motorcycle in the left column of the homepage and off you go. From there, it’s easy to view images of seat styles, find matching accessories, and even view mounting suggestions before making a purchase from us or your local dealer. You can also use the new Mustang website to track recent orders, read customer testimonials, find info about upcoming rallies and events, and reach our office for sales, support or dealer referrals.

And speaking of dealers, if you are a Mustang dealer, click Dealer Login at the very top of the homepage, where after entering your email address and password, you’ll find everything you need from catalogs to prices lists, including our exclusive dealer Biker Essentials catalog, packed with thousands of lifestyle merchandise items.

Finally, let’s not forget about this new blog and our social networking accounts, all of which can be accessed from the new MustangSeats.com. As always, we welcome your questions, comments and thoughts. To reach us about the new website, please leave a comment below.

New for Tuesday: Tripper Fastback

6 Apr

As you may have read last Friday (New Mustang Motorcycle Seat Products for 2010), we’re jazzed about all the new products Mustang be unveiling this year. With so many unique offerings, we’ll be posting one new blog entry per week showcasing one particular item that’s new for 2010. Aptly titled “New for Tuesday,” you can count on these particular blog posts to focus more on features and benefits of these new products than the Buy This Item Now side of the equation.

Mustang Tripper Fastback Motorcycle SeatFirst up is our sleek new version of the popular Tripper line of seats — the Tripper Fastback. Designed to enhance the look of your Bagger, the new Tripper Fastback offers a super clean look and custom styling. Although it’s noticeably cut low, the driver sits comfortably on an 11.5” wide seat with excellent back support. The seat itself is tapered in back but still offers your passenger reasonable comfort with a 7” width.

The Tripper Fastback fits the 1997 through 2010 Harley-Davidson FL Touring family of bikes, and sells for only $339 retail. Made right here in the USA and first introduced to the buying public a few weeks ago during Daytona Bike Week, the Tripper Fastback already looks to be one of our most popular items for 2010!

New Mustang Motorcycle Seat Products for 2010

2 Apr

Spring has officially sprung and it’s time to ride! We’ve worked hard all through the cold New England winter so you can have a great variety of new products ready to choose from for the 2010-riding season. We thought we’d give you a quick peek today of what’s on tap for the spring, and then provide more details on each item over the coming weeks.

For Vulcan 1700 riders, we have introduced a full line of seats for the Nomad and Voyager models as well as for the Classic.

Answering the call from many riders who contacted us asking to have more room to “just sit back and ride,” we’ve designed new Super Touring seats for the 2008-10 FL models that will set the driver back 1.75” while providing a full 19” wide front bucket!

In the coming weeks, we will also introduce you to Mustang’s new Tripper™ Fastback and Wide Tripper™ with Driver Backrest seats.

Finally, we are proud to introduce our new line of Nostalgic Luggage. Durably constructed and completely covered in a high quality, black vinyl, we offer several styles of soft luggage and saddlebags with or without chrome studs.  Shown here is the already popular Journey Bag — a classic look with surprising capacity, handling extended trips with ease (it measures 18 x 14 x 20).

Here’s to hoping you have a chance to go for a ride this holiday weekend.  Enjoy!
