Sons Of Anarchy Signs Off

SOA1

Marj from Mustang Seats road crew with Tommy Flanagan from Sons of Anarchy at the Las Vegas BikeFest.

Love it or hate it, there is no question Sons Of Anarchy influenced the American motorcycle market like nothing else since Orange County Chopper’s TV heyday. While Mustang never made a seat for the show, we have seen the influence of the anarchists… um, mythical SAMCRO bikers. Mustang’s road crew even hung out with some of the cast at the Las Vegas Bikefest this fall.

BurnoutAlthough some industry folks eventually “burned out” on the SOA phenomenon, the majority of fans watched all seven seasons. In fact, the last episode which recently aired received the greatest number of viewers in the show’s entire run. While we never adapted SOA-style uniform, we will admit one of our guilty pleasures was watching the show each week.

76869_app_hd-smThis bad boy mentality also resulted in Mustang introducing our leanest and meanest seat ever for Harley-Davidson® Dyna and FL models. For 35 years we have prided ourselves on offering seats that were based on our three pillars: clean. class. comfort. While the new RunAround™ is still proudly made in the USA, and doesn’t sacrifice Mustang’s legendary reputation for quality, it is definitely not a touring seat in terms of all-day comfort!

Marj is ready to throw down with Mark Boone Junior from Sons of Anarchy at the Las Vegas BikeFest!

That didn’t seem to stop demand from Softail riders wanted this seat. After watching the last season of SOA, our R&D team went back to the drawing board and engineered the lowest solo seat possible for 2000-2015 Harley® standard rear tire Softails. (Actually fitments for FLSTS 2000-2003, FLSTN 2005-up, FLSTSC 2006-2007 and FLSTC 2007-up were plotted on the CAD-CAM machine,, not drawn on graph paper but you get the idea). For good measure, they added most of the other 2000-2006 Softails to the mix, including FLST 2006, FLSTC 2000-2006, FLSTF 2000-2006, FLSTSC 2005, FXST 2000-2005, FXSTB 2000-2005 and FXSTS 2000-2005.

Our combination of New England craftsmanship combined with 21st Century engineering means your RunAround™ seat gives your bike plenty of attitude without being too much of a pain in the ass. Our controlled density polyurethane foam can be poured a little thinner without compromising the comfort, but making for a much thinner seat pad in the process.

Made in-house at Mustang’s historic Three Rivers, MA facility, the exact angle and density of each seat foam panel is formulated and cast to be soft enough for comfort, but resilient enough to retain its shape and structural integrity for years. While Sons Of Anarchy has been relegated to the world of re-runs bikers looking for a bad ass seat need look no further than:

HOT RODS TRANSLATE INTO THE QUEEN’S ENGLISH

5 Dec

hotrod_1The classic low-slung look of the hot rod may have started in America, but it has translated well into the Queen’s English as Triumph took the styling cues for the Speedmaster and the America straight from a 1950s jalopy. Since these motorcycles roots reside on this side of the pond, we decided it was high time for Mustang’s New England craftsmanship to merge with motorcycles from merry olde England. We now have a complete range of replacement seats and accessories for the Triumph America and Speedmaster.

We wanted to improve the ergonomics for the quintessential British motorcycle, without disrupting the the aesthetics. Mustang’s seats flow with the long, low lines of this pair of Brit Bikes… but better yet, they bring Mustang’s legendary comfort into the equation. Now the best of both worlds is available to riders around the world.

The America is engineered around a unique engine, so you get a truly authentic ride… one that connects you to Triumph’s rich heritage. Since the soul of any motorcycle is its engine, the Speedmaster and the America’s upright twin configuration and unique 270-degree firing order really deliver on ride characteristics that are unique to Triumph. Mustang sought to accentuate this experience without dramatically changing the look or the feel of the motorcycle. The best way to achieve this goal was to add comfort to these classic cruisers with Mustang’s renowned design and quality.

Technically speaking, the 14.5″ wide seat sets the rider slightly back. The 11″ wide passenger seat is designed with the optimal seating angle for long-distance travel. There is also an extensive selection of options and accessories for the America and Speedmaster seats, including fender and tank bibs, backrests and sissy bar pads.

Bonneville-76828-Classic-left-appsmSpeaking of quintessential British bikes, don’t forget that Mustang also makes seats for the Bonneville, T100, Scrambler, Thruxton and Thunderbirds. Whether it is the Queen’s English or our own distinctive New England dialect, Mustang speaks your language when it comes to seats for Triumphs.
