Mustang Returns To Motor Bike Expo In Verona

Verona_PerewitzMustang Seats will be joining in the festivities as the custom motorcycle world congregates in Italy for the 2016 Verona Motor Bike Expo (MBE). Set for January 22-24 at the Veronafiere facility, this international trade fair encompasses 880,000 sq./ft. with more than 600 exhibitors. A strong American contingent, led by Mustang, Küryakyn, Crusher, Bahn, Performance Machine and Vance & Hines will be highlighting this year’s show.

“Verona is one of the must-attend European shows for Mustang,” says Director of Global Business Development Marilyn Simmons. “It gives us an opportunity to meet our riders as well as to personally educate, support and build even better relationships with Mustang’s dealers and international distributors.” Recognizing the importance of the Motor Bike Expo, Simmons is showing off several new seats for the European market, including a pair of Signature Series saddles from legendary builders Dave Perewitz and Fred Kodlin.

MMP16_kodlin-seatRenown European bike builder Fred Kodlin has been recognized as one of the Top 50 customizers in the world by S&S Cycles and was honored as the 2005 Bike Builder of the Year. “For 2016 we are launching the Kodlin Signature Series seats,” says Simmons. “We can’t wait to show off what we have partnered up with Fred and his son Len to create.”

PerewitzMustang’s New England neighbor and original Signature Series seat partner Dave Perewitz will be joined by his daughter Jody in Verona. In addition to a Perewitz-designed seat on display in the Mustang booth, Dave is presenting a custom paint show at the Motor Bike Expo, sponsored in part by Mustang and Küryakyn.

“Please come by the Mustang display for the finest seats in the house,” says Marilyn Simmons. Mustang will be located in Hall #1m, Booth 8D at the Motor Bike Expo in Verona. For more information on the MBE, visit www.motorbikeexpo.it

MUSTANG FACTORY TOURS CONTINUE

19 Jun

You Never Know What (Or Who) You Might See!

Tour3TV types and daredevils alike have toured Mustang’s historic Three Rivers factory this summer… and that is just the locals! Seriously: WGBY Channel 57 in Springfield re-aired the episode where “Connecting Point” host Tony Dunne took the Mustang factory tour last WP_20150429_11_16_57_Prosummer. Motorcycle jumper “Doug Danger” Senecal from the neighboring community of Wales, came by before his attempt to clear 22 cars on Evel Knievel’s old bike at Sturgis this summer. Industry icon and IronTrader News publisher Marilyn Stemp covered the factory as well… Pretty lofty company!

Tour5Just last week the American Motorcyclist Association sent a delegation to our little corner of New England. AMA Road Riding Coordinator Rob Baughman and Chris Harrison (AMA Recreation Riding Manager) stopped by to tour Mustang yesterday between working the AMA display at Americade and the Laconia Rally over in Weirs Beach. Since they were so close to the original home of Indian Motorcycles, sales manager Jesse Sargent took them on a tour of the Springfield “Indian” museum. Jesse says that Rob and Chris loved the museum. Guy McLain, director of the “Wood Museum of Springfield History” conducted the in-depth tour for them.

Tour1When we decided to change long-standing company policy and open our doors to a limited number of factory tours a couple summers ago, we never really anticipated doing more than one or two quick walk-throughs… this summer we have everyone from the AMA to our pal Dave Perewitz dropping in and wanting to see how things work! Three years of practice and we finally have the drill down.

MMP FactoryOverwhelmingly positive response from riders taking the tour has led us to keep the program going all summer long and into the fall. Located in Three Rivers, Massachusetts, the facility is only 75 miles west of Boston and 150 miles northeast of New York City. Our two hour tours are by reservation only and we can accommodate groups from 2 to 24. Speaking of fall, our friends from Backroads Motorcycle Touring Magazine are planning another fall colors ride through the New England countryside, highlighted by a tour of Mustang.

For those of you who can’t schedule a fall foliage run or take a personal tour this summer, take the virtual trip here:

MUSTANG FALLS IN LOVE WITH ITALY!

13 Feb

2015 Motor Bike Expo In Verona

GirlVeronaVerona is one of the most beautiful cities in Italy… and in literary circles it is also the setting for the star-crossed lovers Romeo and Juliet. In the motorcycle world, Verona is better known for the passionate fans who flock to the Motor Bike Expo. After sitting out the big trade show in Milan in 2014, Mustang is back in the International show saddle in 2015, starting the new year off in Italy.

Mustang was on hand to support our European fans by booking booth space at the 2015 Motor Bike Expo at the Veronafiere complex January 23-25. The highlight of the show for us was the world MustangVeronalaunch of a line-up of seats for the new Harley-Davidson® Street 750 & 500 models, but we really appreciated the time spent with the people at the show. More than 160,000 rabid motorcyclists surrounded 560+ exhibitors and filled the 67,000 sq. meter indoor area. There was also another 20,000+ meters of outdoor entertainment areas, so it would be an understatement to say this show was rocking!

JodySkunkMustang was located directly adjacent to our New England neighbors from Perewitz (what are the odds of traveling 3,000 miles and ending up in adjoining booths?)… although Dave couldn’t make it, Jody seemed to be having a great time, but we were not sure what she was doing with a live skunk in the booth one day! We were also located between two of Mustang’s leading European distributors, Parts Europe and Motorcycle Storehouse. Indian and Victory motorcycles, as well as the gang from the Buffalo Chip in Sturgis were also at the Motor Bike Expo, so we were definitely in good company.

The food, the people and the passion for motorcycles… what’s not to like? We’re thinking that Montagues and the Capulets would have been better off with riding motorcycles and hanging out at the Motor Bike Expo than feuding over petty matters.

Perewitz Signature Series Seats Sign In At Sturgis!

1 Aug

Limited Edition Posters Of The Legend Himself

MMP14_FB-Sturgis-Perewitz--v2

To help launch the Perewitz Signature Series seats in Sturgis, bike building legend Dave Perewitz will be signing limited edition posters exclusively at the Mustang displays during the rally. Designed by Dave, made by Mustang, the name really does mean something! Everything we know went into making these seats before the Perewitz name was put on it!

So who is the man behind the mythological “Perewitz” name? Dave Perewitz built his first bike back in 1973 and his Cycle Fab shop quickly gained a reputation. Since then, his artistry and skills have earned the Perewitz name a global recognition, particularly for Harley baggers (or “Baggas” as Dave says with his distinctive Massachusetts accent).

Dave and the team at Mustang worked closely together to create the Signature Series, comprised of one solo seat and four new Fastback styles. In addition to the Solo seat introduced in our 2014 catalog (see pages 36-37), we now have Perewitz Signature seats for most Harley-Davidson® FL models from 1997 and up, in addition to 2006-10 FXST models.

MMP_Perewitz-n-bikeSee the full range of Perewitz Signature Seats in Sturgis, as well as our replacement seats for the all-new Indian motorcycles and the instruction of our retro metal flake inserts. From 12-2 p.m. on August 4th, Dave will be signing these posters at the Mustang big rig located at Black Hills Harley-Davidson. On August 5, he heads over to the Mustang display at J&P Cycles on Lazelle Street, again from 12-2p.m.

If you can’t make it to Black Hills in time to have Perewitz personally sign your seat and grab a poster, you can still download your digital Perewitz wallpaper poster version and also check out the line of Signature Series Seats at:

WHAT’S IN A NAME?

9 May

Designed By Dave Perewitz, Made By Mustang

PerewitzlogolargeWhat’s in a name? Plenty when that name is Dave Perewitz!  One of America’s premier painters and bike builders, Dave is a New England original — just like Mustang Seats. Mustang is honored to team up with this living legend to create the Perewitz Signature Seat Series. Combining his unique design style with Mustang’s unmatched comfort has resulted in five unmistakably cool new seats. A work in progress, we have been hinting at the Signature series for awhile, but had to wait until everything lived up to Dave’s exacting standards for artistry and Mustang’s requirements for superior fit and comfort… after all, these seats have both our names on them!

PerewitzSeat_topA bit more background behind the Perewitz name: Dave built his first bike back in 1973. Since then, his artistry and skills have earned the Perewitz name a global reputation in the custom bikes realm, particularly baggers (or “Baggas” as Dave says with his distinctive Massachusetts accent). Dave and the team at Mustang worked closely together to create the Signature Series, comprised of one solo seat and four new Fastback styles. In fact, we only managed to tease dealers with the Solo seat in our full line catalog (see pages 36-37), but now we have Perewitz Signature seats for most Harley-Davidson® FL models from 1997 and up as well as 2006-10 FXST models.

Perewitz_sideshotThe solo seat mentioned in the catalog fits the 2008-14 FL Touring line. Only 11” wide, it is narrower than any stock seat. It also features an innovative hidden installation system so there are no visible bolts or brackets. Matching fender bibs incorporate the diamond stitching with braided edge trim found in the seats. These bibs are felt-backed to protect paint and contoured to fit the fender with no gaps around the edges… and better yet, they cost less than $50.

The four Perewitz Fastbacks are a full 12-inches wide up front, tapering to a sleek 7-inches at the back. Like all Mustang Tripper style seats, the Perewitz Signature Series Seats are cut low to the ground, yet retain enough molded foam to be comfortable. That svelte rear section flows smoothly to the fender, yet has adequate padding for use as a passenger seat in a pinch. All 2008-14 FLs are covered by a single part number (#76981). So are 1997-07 Road Kings, 1997-05 Screamin’ Eagle editions and 2006-07 FLHX Street Glides (part #76980). Ditto for the 1997-2007 FLHT and FLTR (#76983), as well as a seat specifically for the 2006-14 Softail 200mm Wide Tire, 2006-10 FXST, 2007-14 FLSTF Fat Boy and 2008-11 FLSTSB Cross Bones (#76982).

perewitz-bikeEverything had to be exactly right before we announced these seats because we believe so strongly in the New England ideal of Yankee Craftsmanship… and the importance of the Perewitz touch. Designed by Dave, made by Mustang really does mean something: Everything we know about making a superior seat went into this line before we were willing to put our name on it! Check it out at:

Cruiser Customizing Inc. Helps Bikers Choose Mustang Seats

23 Aug

MMP_Ldr1220612-art1We couldn’t have said it better ourselves! Eric, Kyle and the crew at Cruiser Customizing have done a phenomenal job of researching and compiling the ultimate Mustang Seat buyer’s guide, complete with testimonials from happy customers. Everything you ever wanted to know about Mustang seats and how to determine which is the right seat for you can be found here:

http://www.cruisercustomizing.com/motorcycle-guides/mustang-motorcycle-seats-buying-guide-2013

CCAs the motorcycle rally season has hit high gear this summer, Cruiser Customizing Inc. has been busy serving up related buyer’s guides. These buying guides outline the most popular motorcycle parts and accessories for customizing your Harley, Metric Cruiser or Gold Wing, along with tips on how to install key components and get the look you want.

Made in the USA and in the business for more than 30 years, it’s only natural that Mustang Seats would be one of the first brands to garner a top spot in the Cruiser Customizing Buying Guide section. With riders across the country gearing up for their summer adventures, Mustang offers motorcyclists a wide gamut of seats that are ideal for the long haul. Ultimately, “It’s All About the Ride!” as we like to say around here and bikers are looking for ways to increase comfort and function on the road, while still looking cool.

Cruiser Customizing Inc. (CC) is an e-commerce website that has been in the motorcycle business for 12 years now. Its main focus is aftermarket customization — that is to say, what happens when you ride your bike off the dealership lot, and really begin to infuse your own style and standard of comfort. CC helps motorcyclists treat their baby right, and create the ultimate machine for any biker who wants to upgrade and style their OEM parts.

Mustang Seats has made this easier than ever — take the built-in, removable driver backrest, for example. This style of seat allows motorcyclists to choose their riding style each time they mount their bike. It’s also adjustable, and allows for full back support, no matter where your destination lies. CC highlights these key specs to give bikers smart buying options, and get the best experience possible on the road.

As you may know, Mustang Seats recently teamed up with Roland Sands Design (RSD) to manufacture aftermarket seats. Watch CC’s visit with Roland Sands himself, as they discuss why Mustang was the best option for his personal designs. Also featured in the guide is a step-by-step video that shows the production of a seat in our Massachusetts factory, a quick recap of all the new changes for 2013, and hints at an exciting new program that will allow bikers to customize their seat before it even hits the production line.

Visit Cruiser Customizing’s Mustang Seats Guide and find out why Mustang saddles are deemed “The World’s Most Comfortable Seat”.
