MUSTANG FALLS IN LOVE WITH ITALY!

2015 Motor Bike Expo In Verona

GirlVeronaVerona is one of the most beautiful cities in Italy… and in literary circles it is also the setting for the star-crossed lovers Romeo and Juliet. In the motorcycle world, Verona is better known for the passionate fans who flock to the Motor Bike Expo. After sitting out the big trade show in Milan in 2014, Mustang is back in the International show saddle in 2015, starting the new year off in Italy.

Mustang was on hand to support our European fans by booking booth space at the 2015 Motor Bike Expo at the Veronafiere complex January 23-25. The highlight of the show for us was the world MustangVeronalaunch of a line-up of seats for the new Harley-Davidson® Street 750 & 500 models, but we really appreciated the time spent with the people at the show. More than 160,000 rabid motorcyclists surrounded 560+ exhibitors and filled the 67,000 sq. meter indoor area. There was also another 20,000+ meters of outdoor entertainment areas, so it would be an understatement to say this show was rocking!

JodySkunkMustang was located directly adjacent to our New England neighbors from Perewitz (what are the odds of traveling 3,000 miles and ending up in adjoining booths?)… although Dave couldn’t make it, Jody seemed to be having a great time, but we were not sure what she was doing with a live skunk in the booth one day! We were also located between two of Mustang’s leading European distributors, Parts Europe and Motorcycle Storehouse. Indian and Victory motorcycles, as well as the gang from the Buffalo Chip in Sturgis were also at the Motor Bike Expo, so we were definitely in good company.

The food, the people and the passion for motorcycles… what’s not to like? We’re thinking that Montagues and the Capulets would have been better off with riding motorcycles and hanging out at the Motor Bike Expo than feuding over petty matters.

MUSTANGS HANDCRAFTED CATALOGS ARE HERE!

25 Mar

We were able to get our 2014 catalogs printed just in time for Bike Week in Daytona. Believe it or not, we have been handcrafting the world’s most comfortable motorcycle seats in our historic New England facility since 1980. In fact, our photogenic factory is the backdrop for the 2014 catalogs.  Although we love our factory with its old hardwood floors and red brick construction, we were getting cabin fever and needed the excuse to make a run to the sun, even if it meant hand-delivering the new catalogs to Florida… that’s our excuse and we’re sticking with it!

MMP14_NonHarleyRetFCov-smIf you didn’t make it to Daytona to thaw out and take the hand-off of a handcrafted catalog during Bike Week, you can still access Mustang’s 2014 virtual versions. The 124-page “Metric” catalog — including the full line of Mustang seats for Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, Kawasaki, Victory cruisers as well as Triumph and BMW applications — can be found at:

While the V-Twin version is available at:

MMP14_HarleyRetail_FCov-smIn addition to having seats for most metric cruisers and Harley-Davidson® models on the road, we have really broadened our range in recent years with Victory, Triumph and Gold Wing applications. All new additions for 2014 include BMW, Yamaha Bolt and our expanded custom seat program. However, this is just the tip of the iceberg from our New England master craftsmen.

Mustang’s reputation for comfort is a given, but now we are making a name for ourselves on the style side. Collaborating with fellow New Englander Dave Perewitz to create his own signature series seats has been in the works for more than a year, but it is well worth the wait. Meanwhile the seats that we are making for Roland Sands Design remain on the cutting edge of cool!

Our 240-page master catalog for the dealers should be on the countertop at your favorite shop by now, and as mentioned, our pair of supplements specifically for Harley-Davidson® and Metric models are also available at a rally near you. Just look for the Mustang big rig at these events: http://www.mustangseats.com/Mustang/Rallies-Events

Mustang Survives The Move…

27 Sep

MMP-3rivers1As mentioned in an earlier blog post, Mustang has been expanding our operation and bringing some of the satellite offices under the same roof as our factory. As the German philosopher Nietsche noted, “That which does not kill us only serves to make us stronger.” Unfortunately AT&T’s inability to transfer our phone lines is putting us to the test!

It seems as if everything is happening at once… with the exception of our phone system. In addition to adding staff, expanding existing seat ranges for Gold Wings, doubling up on offerings for Victory and introducing an all-new line of replacement seats for Triumphs, Mustang moved our sales and marketing departments last weekend. Instead of Terryville, Connecticut, sales & marketing are now located in the original factory in Three Rivers, Massachusetts.

Our goal was to bring all of Mustang’s offices under one roof and we thought we would only need to unplug for a couple of days in order to bring our state-of-the-art call center on line. With the notable exception of John Glynn and our big rig crew out at the rallies, our entire team is now in the same New England town we have been in since the company was founded back in 1980.

A benefit of bringing sales, marketing, R&D and manufacturing together is that we can greatly accelerate the time it takes to bring a new seat to market. We have already added a custom seat program and also rolled out a range of seats for Triumph’s Bonneville and Thunderbird models… and that is just the tip of the iceberg.

The synergy of having all of us under one roof cannot be underestimated. What used to take weeks of back-and-forth e-mails can now be resolved face-to-face in a matter of minutes, which will really streamline the product development cycle.

Although we are expanding, we are not changing what brought us here. Look for the same unwavering focus on quality, comfort and total customer satisfaction, combined with our proud heritage of Yankee craftsmanship, to continue.

Cruiser Customizing Inc. Helps Bikers Choose Mustang Seats

MMP_Ldr1220612-art1We couldn’t have said it better ourselves! Eric, Kyle and the crew at Cruiser Customizing have done a phenomenal job of researching and compiling the ultimate Mustang Seat buyer’s guide, complete with testimonials from happy customers. Everything you ever wanted to know about Mustang seats and how to determine which is the right seat for you can be found here:

CCAs the motorcycle rally season has hit high gear this summer, Cruiser Customizing Inc. has been busy serving up related buyer’s guides. These buying guides outline the most popular motorcycle parts and accessories for customizing your Harley, Metric Cruiser or Gold Wing, along with tips on how to install key components and get the look you want.

Made in the USA and in the business for more than 30 years, it’s only natural that Mustang Seats would be one of the first brands to garner a top spot in the Cruiser Customizing Buying Guide section. With riders across the country gearing up for their summer adventures, Mustang offers motorcyclists a wide gamut of seats that are ideal for the long haul. Ultimately, “It’s All About the Ride!” as we like to say around here and bikers are looking for ways to increase comfort and function on the road, while still looking cool.

Cruiser Customizing Inc. (CC) is an e-commerce website that has been in the motorcycle business for 12 years now. Its main focus is aftermarket customization — that is to say, what happens when you ride your bike off the dealership lot, and really begin to infuse your own style and standard of comfort. CC helps motorcyclists treat their baby right, and create the ultimate machine for any biker who wants to upgrade and style their OEM parts.

Mustang Seats has made this easier than ever — take the built-in, removable driver backrest, for example. This style of seat allows motorcyclists to choose their riding style each time they mount their bike. It’s also adjustable, and allows for full back support, no matter where your destination lies. CC highlights these key specs to give bikers smart buying options, and get the best experience possible on the road.

As you may know, Mustang Seats recently teamed up with Roland Sands Design (RSD) to manufacture aftermarket seats. Watch CC’s visit with Roland Sands himself, as they discuss why Mustang was the best option for his personal designs. Also featured in the guide is a step-by-step video that shows the production of a seat in our Massachusetts factory, a quick recap of all the new changes for 2013, and hints at an exciting new program that will allow bikers to customize their seat before it even hits the production line.
